Amina Diallo
Pharmacology · Karolinska Institutet
Amina Diallo is a PhD candidate in Pharmacology at Karolinska Institutet, supervised by Prof. Lars Terenius. Her thesis uses radioligand binding kinetics and CRISPR-engineered receptor variants to characterise tolerance and desensitisation mechanisms at mu-opioid receptors, informing the design of reduced-dependence analgesics. Ten publications in Molecular Pharmacology and British Journal of Pharmacology include a highly-cited review on biased agonism. Amina completed an industrial secondment at AstraZeneca Gothenburg's CNS department and holds a co-inventorship on a patent covering a novel partial agonist scaffold. Three pharmaceutical companies have expressed formal interest in hiring her upon completion. Her research directly addresses the opioid crisis with a credible mechanistic approach to reduced-liability analgesics.
