Rania Mahmoud

Analytical Chemistry · Cairo University

Rania Mahmoud is a PhD candidate in Analytical Chemistry at Cairo University, supervised by Prof. Mona Saad. Her thesis develops modified carbon paste and screen-printed electrode sensors with bismuth film and molecularly imprinted polymer recognition layers for simultaneous voltammetric determination of cadmium, lead and mercury in Nile water samples, achieving detection limits compliant with WHO drinking water standards. Eight publications in Analytica Chimica Acta and Talanta document her sensor fabrication and environmental validation work. Rania received an Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education channel scholarship and presented her sensors at the ISE international electrochemistry symposium. She has been recruited by the Egyptian Environment Affairs Agency as a water quality monitoring scientist. Her sensor strips are being produced at 1,000 units per month by a Cairo instrument manufacturer supplying environmental monitoring agencies.
