Structural Engineering · Czech Technical University in Prague
Petra Novak is a PhD candidate in Structural Engineering at Czech Technical University in Prague, supervised by Prof. Milan Jirasek. Her thesis develops and experimentally validates a lattice discrete particle model for mixed-mode crack propagation in reinforced concrete under monotonic and cyclic loading, contributing to improved predictions of shear-critical beam and joint behaviour. Seven publications in Engineering Fracture Mechanics and Cement and Concrete Research document her model development and experimental campaign. Petra received a CEDR road administration research award and collaborated with SKANSKA's Czech structural design team on a bridge design validation project. She has accepted a structural integrity engineer position at KPMG Engineering in Prague. Her LDPM-RC model is being incorporated into structural safety assessment software used by three central European bridge authorities.
