David Nguyen
Bioinformatics · UNSW Sydney
David Nguyen is a PhD candidate in Bioinformatics at UNSW Sydney, supervised by Prof. John Mattick. His thesis builds computational pipelines and machine learning models to characterise long noncoding RNA regulatory networks governing neural differentiation, analysing thousands of bulk and single-cell transcriptomes from human iPSC-derived neural organoids. Eight publications in Nucleic Acids Research and Genome Biology reflect his pipeline and database contributions. David created the lncRNA-Atlas browser used by research groups across twelve countries. He completed an internship at Illumina's genomics solutions group in Singapore and holds an offer from a clinical genomics company to join their bioinformatics team post-graduation. His lncRNA regulatory network maps are being incorporated into a commercial gene panel for neurological disease diagnostics.
