Chioma Obi is a PhD candidate in Public Health at the University of Ibadan, supervised by Prof. Akinwale Ogunwale. Her thesis evaluates the incremental cost-effectiveness of three malaria vaccine introduction strategies in seven West African countries using decision-analytic Markov models, calibrated to national malaria indicator survey data and health system costing studies. Five publications in Malaria Journal and Health Economics document her modelling frameworks and policy scenario analyses. Chioma received a Wellcome Trust African PhD Fellowship and presented her findings to the WHO SAGE malaria vaccine working group, influencing two country vaccination programme designs. She has been recruited by the African Development Bank to lead malaria health economics analysis in their pandemic preparedness programme. Her models project 280,000 deaths averted over ten years under the optimal vaccine strategy.
