Andrei Popescu
Quantum Computing · University of Bucharest
Andrei Popescu is a PhD candidate in Quantum Computing at the University of Bucharest, supervised by Prof. Horia Iovu. His thesis designs topological quantum error correction protocols exploiting non-Abelian anyonic braiding in proximity-induced superconducting 2D material heterostructures, demonstrating enhanced logical qubit coherence in numerical simulations. Ten publications in Physical Review X and npj Quantum Information document theoretical proposals and experimental collaborations. Andrei completed a visiting researcher exchange at the University of Copenhagen's Niels Bohr Institute and was awarded the Romanian National Authority for Scientific Research excellence grant. He has been recruited by IQM Quantum Computers for a hardware research engineer role and invited to present at the IEEE International Conference on Quantum Computing and Engineering.
